Road Trip

I am writing this as I am on the first road trip with my siblings in almost 10 years. My mother’s best friend is lucky enough to be included in this adventure to Charleston. We are 2 hours into the drive and only six more to go.
I think we are going to survive this. Granted I am ditching the crew when we get to Charleston. They have a wedding to attend and I am visiting my friend.
Granted we have the return trip on Sunday so I am thinking I will have enough fam time in the car to last for a while.

My Style

I am really getting into gold tones lately.  I guess you can say that I am blessed that my father ignored my many statements that I did not like gold as a child.  I cringe thinking about my bratty behavior when I whined that I wanted silver not gold.  As an adult, I love the many different necklaces that my father brought back to me from his travels.
Now, I really want some earrings that match my stuff.  I also really want a cross-body bag with a gold toned chain on it.  My dream bag is a Chanel one but let’s keep this post firmly grounded in reality.
Below is a mixture of pieces that I already own and what I wish I owned…
I have the Paige boots from Frye and I absolutely love them!  I also have pants similar to the ones shown.  I love the bracelet alot!  I do have a thing for horse equipment inspired jewelry!  The earrings have been on my wish list for over a year now.
The top is cute and green is such a hot color right now.  I am wearing a mint green top today that has a similar feel.  I think I would love this top’s color even more, but I have not bitten the bullet since I cannot try it on in person.
The purse pictured is by K.Slademade.  I received one of their fold over clutches for Christmas and I love the supple feel of the leather.  In fact, I am using the purse today!

So much to be thankful for….

I am writing this as I am frantically running around trying to get everything together for me to hop on a plane and “jump across the pond.” This December has been jam packed with fellowship with friends and family. I am lucky to have such wonderful friends and family that love and support me. LML is being one of those key supporters since he is sending me off soon for Christmas and New Years apart from him. While I won’t kid you and say that this is an ideal situation, but we both decided that me attending my godson’s christening was important.

I have become more aware of the season this year, perhaps since so many of my friends are starting families around now. It has become less about the presents or decoration, and it is more about the experiences. (I am not just saying this since I skipped a tree this year…I promise) And believe me when I say that this Christmas will be an experience. I hope that one day I am able to look back on this Christmas as a beginning of something special.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and hopefully I will keep you updated on my trip.

Dragon boat races

As I have previously mentioned my month of April was busy. One of the reasons is that I have been involved in planning a dragon boat race.
I know you are saying, what is that? Well here is the just of it… Teams of 20 paddlers, 1 drummer and a professional steer person all in one 46 ft boat racing down the river against two other boats.

Considering we had 26 teams racing, that equals 546 team members plus all the spectators. You can imagine the work that went into planning.

I have to say the event was a hit and many people are planning their team for next year already.

Entertaining

20120322-134119.jpg

On top of the million other things happening in my life, I am hosting a cocktail party for my cousin. This combined with the fact that I have no free weekends between now and cinco de mayo, I must have lost my mind.

I finally settled on generic cocktail invitations Saturday. I also ordered custom napkins and cups.

I now need to firm up a menu and decide on the something sweet to serve.

Any suggestions on what to serve?

Bargain Dad

My Dad is kinda famous for trying to find a great deal. A few years back he bought a 600 dollar boat at auction and spent time fixing it up. The boat ran fine but was not the most visually appealing boat. I enjoyed the time I was able to spend on the boat this summer.

Unfortunately, a few weeks back a tree fell his boat and broke it in half. The good news is that the insurance payout is higher than the actual cost of the old boat. So he took that money this weekend and bought a new boat.
This boat is definitely a visual upgrade.

We are lucky that he made it home since the new boats trailer lost the tire tread.

I look forward to many rides on the river in this new boat. Hopefully unlike the last one, this one will have a working radio.
